Is it possible to use differing water pressure at different ocean levels to drive a turbine generator?

For example, you have a two mile long soda straw which at the ocean floor ***** water at very high pressure. By the time the water reaches the ocean surface (much less pressure) it should be traveling at a rate of speed high enough to drive a turbine for electricity? Sounds right anyway.

My sister is 9 and she wants a good book series for christmas. She wants a long one also. She just wants the first book. She read emilia bedilia, amber brow, etc. Any good book series out there? Answer quick please! She is not looking for a babyish book. No Harry Potter, Twilight, Cirque Du Freak etc. Thanks!
